In a world geared towards men, why are sex toys for men still taboo?

Think about it.  It’s a man’s world.  Men are better paid and have more career opportunities.  Women worldwide are still treated as second or even third class citizens.  Hell, last week Iran wouldn’t even let women watch a volleyball game without fear of imprisonment.  Yet in one arena, women rule.  Sex toys have historically been marketed and geared towards women.  Which is  ironic considering men have always had considerably more sexual freedom than women.  Men have always been able to have sexual relations without the same fear of public shame and scandal.  There’s a reason Hester Prynne wore the Scarlet Letter and not Reverend Dimmesdale.

Maybe because men are able to achieve orgasm more easily than women.

It has become more acceptable for women to seek sexual pleasure from a third party toy rather than their partner.  Ever since the vibrator was invented in the 1880’s, most men began to discover the true meaning behind the phrase “happy wife, happy life” and vibrator use became more acceptable, encouraged even.  According to the Journal of Sexual Medicine, the female orgasm is crucial not only to a woman’s happiness, but to the strength of her relationship.  But what about the male orgasm – isn’t anyone concerned about him?  Just because men are able to orgasm more frequently, should they mean he gets shortchanged when it comes to sex toys.  Shouldn’t quality be valued over quantity?

Times are Changing

While most women readily admit to a drawer full of vibrators, most men are not so open.  Times are a changing, however.  Although male masturbation toys have always been the cornerstone of the male sex toy market, new innovations in sex toys have helped the sale of male sex toys rise by 1000% over the last ten years!  And like the best new restaurants and neighborhoods, straight men have gay men to thank for many of these advancements.  Straight men are finding what gay men have known forever – the prostate is an erogenous gland, stimulate it and you will have a more powerful orgasm.  The entire focus on straight sex has always been the cock with little attention paid to the balls and the perineum.  No longer thanks to waves in men’s sex toys which hone in on these areas.

Keeping Stimulated

A cock ring has always been used to constrict the blood flow to the penis making an erection last longer.  Then it was paired with a clitoral stimulator for her.  Now there are dual stimulators which will not only stimulate her clitoris but the balls as well.  There are perineum vibrators designed to massage just that area – it can be used alone or during intercourse.  Not to mention the rise in prostate stimulators.

Bottom line is frequent male orgasm is healthy and prostate stimulation can lower your chances of contracting prostate cancer by 22%. So don’t shortchange the men – try a male sex toy and see how it can improve your sex life!
