Did you know we have a Pure Chat feature? We do! And it allows you to talk to one of our sexperts in real time! If no one is available, you can still ask your question and you’ll receive an email response. Here’s the first question from Micah:
What’s the difference between an anal desensitizer and an anal relaxer? Which one is better to use?

I’m glad you asked! No, seriously, we love getting this question. Very often we get told “I am trying anal for the first time and I want to use a desensitizer” or they were told to use it or some variation of that statement. And every time we hear it, we always recommend an anal relaxer instead. Sure, we sell desensitizers, but we don’t love them and here is why: they numb you. And you’re probably thinking “isn’t that the point?” Yes, that is the point BUT (pun intended), you should actually be able to feel everything going on during anal play. Pain is a signal to your body that something is wrong, so numbing those signals could potentially make play time dangerous.
Relaxers do exactly what you’d think they do – relax your sphincter muscles! Rather than prevent you from feeling anything, they actually allow for easier insertion of a finger, toy, or partner. Relaxers are a topical solution, you only need a little for them to work, and we have several options in-store.
They only similar catch about using a desensitizer or a relaxer is they are not a lubricant so you will still need that for anal play.
Since lube is still a necessity, we very often also recommend the Jelle Plus from Wicked! It’s gel anal lubricant with the relaxer and works wonderfully and quickly! It’s such a pain in the ass (pun also intended) to have to buy two separate and different things for one activity, so this not only saves you money, but saves you space in your bedside table.
I hope this helps answer your question and of course, if you’d like to learn more – please feel free to contact us again!
