Happy Dandelion Day! This much maligned weed looks so pretty in the spring that it rates its own day! While we’re pretty much over the dandelion by the time summer hits, in the spring it’s often the first sign of life so it’s a blossom to be welcomed and celebrated! Dandelions have been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments, including improving appetite, soothing your digestive tract, and relieving constipation. It can also help restore vaginal lubrication which can be lost due to menopause, cancer or breast feeding.
You can easily buy dandelion tea in prepackaged bags in any supermarket or health food store, but why not try making it at home? The recipe is quite simple.
- Pick 10 heads (flowers) from dandelions per cup of tea
- Boil 8 ounces of water
- Remove the green section underneath the flower
- Place the yellow petals in a tea ball and place inside your tea cup
- Add boiling water and allow the petals to steep for 20 minutes
- Add desired sweetener and enjoy!
