Sex is a bodily function which can sometimes be a little messy. Whether your sheets come from Target or Boll and Branch – they’re still a significant investment that you want to protect. And sex stains aren’t limited to bedsheets! Have you ever tried to get a cum stain off your couch?! Here’s how clean some of life’s messier stains!
Because semen has such a large dose of protein, it can easily leave a whitish stain on your sheets. No worries! Simply pre-treat with an enzyme solution (like Shout or OxyClean). Let it soak in for a few minutes and wash as usual. Never bleach a semen stain – even if its on white sheets. It can make the stain turn yellow.
The most important question when trying to get rid of a lube stain is – what kind of lubricant did you use? For a water based lube, simply wash as usual (this is one of the advantages of using a water based lube). Silicone lubes are a little trickier but if you pretreat with a spot of dish soap like Dawn, that will help loosen the stain. For harder stains, block the excess oil up with a clean towel and sprinkle baking soda on it. Allow it to sit for 24 hours then shake out the soda and spray it with a vinegar/water solution. Wash as usual and the stain should disappear!
Whether it’s that time of the month or just a flesh wound, blood can be easily removed if caught early. Rinse immediately with cold water until the water runs clear. Then use a stain remover with hydrogen peroxide and allow it to work its magic. Wash in warm (not hot!) water. If the stain is still there, repeat BEFORE putting the sheets in the dryer to avoid setting the stain.
Whether it’s vaginal discharge, urine or sweat – most of these substances can be easily removed if you simply treat with a stain remover and wash as usual.
To Be Totally Safe . . .
