Part of my daytime job requires me to encourage self-care. Sometimes, people get annoyed at the idea of the self-care.. I am one of those people when I hear it from my coworkers as well. But, it is a very important aspect of staying happy and healthy – mentally and physically. Part of my self-care is exploring myself, usually with the help of another person or a toy. I’m not one who normally liked to use my own fingers, but some of the finger vibes out on the market really do help me feel a little more comfortable with using my digits while others.. I would rather take a Brillo pad to my lady parts than use these so called “vibrators.”
If you aren’t already sitting down, please do so right now. I may be about to tell you something that will shock you. Are you ready…? Okay… so I did it. I finally… FOUND A COUPLES TOY THAT WORKS WHILE HAVING PENETRATIVE SEX.
As I continue working with Fantasy Gifts NJ and new innovative toys begin springing out of companies, I’m consistently finding replacement favorites for my current favorite toys here and there. But I found one to replace ALL of my clitoral stimulant toys in my drawer. It takes two to tango, they say – but in my recent experience, I only need the Tango from We Vibe.
Lance always tells people that I’m smarter than him, but I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily true – we’re different kinds of smart. Some of the few things he knows more about are sports, shoes, and cars. He’s given me insight on why certain cars are easier to fix and less expensive to fix than other, more expensive cars are to fix. This can fall into the category of why there are older cars out there that can be more reliable than the new, technologically advanced cars out there we see on the road now. Why I am able to understand this is because I took his information and applied it to what I do know – sometimes corded is better than not (I’m looking at you Body Wand Aqua).
Happy National Sex Day and Pride Month!! And with National Sex Day falling on June 9th (6/9), I figured I go oral this entry! Cunnilingus (aka “eating” out/vagina), fellatio (blow job), and anilingus (rim job for those not so well versed in technical terms) are sometimes the best “just because” gifts someone would ever ask for/receive. In my opinion, and solely mine, I think sometimes I prefer just to have any type of oral sex performed on me rather than have any other type of sexual activity – probably because it is a little selfish and I just sit back and enjoy it but sometimes I need to indulge. I’d happily oblige to my partner as well if asked (or not, so long as we have our consent arranged). In fact, last year when the Men’s World Cup was happening, I made a wager with Lance about who would win and our prize would be undisrupted oral of our choosing – and for the record, I won.
May is Masturbation Month and this thing I am focusing primarily on myself (with the occasional assistance of Lance). Masturbation month is also a time I use for reflection – what have I discovered I enjoy, what have I grown to dislike, what is my body saying to me so that I can communicate that with my partner? This reflection can lead to growth and in growth should follow success (however you may define that success).
You learn a lot about sex, bodies, anatomy, and about the companies who make and sell adult toys when you work in the sex toy industry, even if it is just as a sales associate in one of the most amazing family own boutiques in South Jersey. You make these connections with people also in the industry and, eventually, you become a liaison between company and consumer as you have the most contact with them on a regular basis. When I got my Satisfyer Pro Penguin I had more friends and friends of friends reach out to me and ask about it that any other toy I’ve owned– I mean, at one point Amber Rose was able to include it in her monthly box subscription “for free” so it’s a well known product just from that alone. I was excited as well just because I love the little penguin look to it (I’m guilty for occasionally letting aesthetics get the better part of my judgment).
A trend I’ve been noticing within manufacturers is a push for ergonomic toys – toys that fit the shape of your body that result in a far better experience when using them. I give much kudos for their attempts because I’ve had my share of experiences where I don’t even need to turn a vibrator on to know it’ll be awkward or won’t hit the right spots. Another trend I’ve noticed is this revival of finger vibes. They’ve been around for quite some time – definitely far longer than I’ve been using toys as a consumer – but they’re all been cheap, weak, and not pleasant in my experience. The move has been to make them more powerful and instead of sliding these vibes onto your finger, you slide a protruding piece of silicone or plastic in between your middle and index fingers perfectly.
I recently found out who my real friends are and it’s resulted in NONE. What does this have to do with sex toys? As many of you may (or may not if you’re new here – otherwise WELCOME!) know, I am not a fan of patterns on vibrators. I prefer the steady speeds and tend to ignore the patterns after I really get the chance to experiment and write my reviews. The worst part about the vibes is you have to go through all 7 or 9 EXTRA settings PLUS the other 2 lower settings JUST TO GET BACK TO MY FAVORITE SPEEP?!?!?!? APPARENLTY I’ve been sleeping on a clitoral vibe that ONLY HAS STEADY SPEEDS. I’ve been with the store for almost 2 years now and I’m just discovering them gem of a toy (full disclosure – Louisa DID tell me about the point but sharp looking objects scare me).
It started with the Rose Gold iPhone, then jewelry, moved onto rose wine and vodka (yes vodka, I’ve seen it with my own four eyes), and now it has invaded the sex toy industry. So far, I can only find a few true “rose gold” toys out there, but most are BDSM accessories like collars and chains. Evolved is the first company I have actually had grace our shelves with the rose gold coloring with their new Golden Bunny.
