Have you tried our Pure Chat yet? It allows you to talk to one of our sexperts in real time! f no one is available, you can still ask your question and you’ll receive an email response. We’ve been looking at some of our Pure Chat questions and featuring them in a regular column we’re calling Between the Sheets. Here’s a question from Heather:
I have a disability that makes intimate moments with a partner difficult or painful. What products do you recommend?
Thanks for your question Heather! First, take a full body scan and take inventory of the issues you experience. Is it mobility? Dexterity? Is it acute or chronic pain? Does it only happen during a certain act or various acts? Once we get some of those questions answered, we can figure out what products might be helpful for your experience. Just a reminder: these may only help alleviate pain to a certain extent. If you haven’t already spoken with a doctor or specialist, we might recommend speaking to them as well.
Depending on your situation, lubricants may be a simple fix! An example would be the medications you take can prevent you from naturally lubricating. Lubrication also allows you and your partner to make quick and smoother movements when in the moments. Thicker lubricants, like gels and silicone, tend to stay in place longer and act as a cushion for pain.
Longer and lighter sex toys are not always easy to find together, so finding toys that have handles and remotes makes using them with a disability less of a task than other products. Some items that are light and longer include the Evolved Lochness G and the Bodywand Curve. For masturbators, you might consider M for Men’s 3rd Base or the Zero Tolerance Cyclone. And if erectile dysfunction from age, trauma or disability is not fun for anyone so give the Selopa Our First Hallow Strap On. If you find grinding easier on your body, you can always use a grinding toy like the Gender X Pleasure Pad, any dildo with a suction cup, or one of our dildo cushions as a grinding toy!
A popular choice for a positioner would be the Door Jam Sex Swing! This Sex Sling secures over your solid door. Made of strong, comfortable construction, the seat, hand straps, and footrests are all easily adjustable. Other positioners can be found in the Pivot line and the Bounce Squatter from Whipsmart. And if your disability occasionally causes accidents depending on the position you’re in, use the Pivot Protector Sheet as a way to prevent messes from getting on your furniture.
Hopefully this is enough to get you started Heather! If you need any additional ideas, just stay tuned!
