Rowan University’s Prism and Intersectional Feminist Collective held a campus inclusive event to bring attention to sexual health and wellness through an educational platform and social awareness with the Valentine’s Day edition of Sex Toy Bingo on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The event included traditional bingo, a raffle for a basket of prizes and interactive entertainment with the audience and presenters.
We are very honored to have been invited to sponsor the Sex Toy Bingo with Prism at Rowan University. This is the second year we were invited to attend and sponsor the event. Last fall, with the Halloween Edition of Sex Toy Bingo and this year for their Valentine’s Edition held at Pfleeger Concert Hall. Over 500 people attended the event; many were lined up outside before the 7 p.m. start.
Besides the effort to engage all students in a fun on campus event, the organization set out to raise money for The Triad House in Ewing, NJ. The Triad House is the only homeless shelter in NJ that caters specifically to the needs of homeless or run away LGBTQIA+ youth (teens ages 14-18). Many gay and transgender youth end up on the street as a result of rejection by their families, bullying in school, and an overall lack of support. A larger problem faced by these teens is sex trafficking.
Triad’s in-house social work team works to identify gay and transgender youth who are already receiving services from the state’s Department of Children and Families. As a result, Triad House’s staff has been able to find teens in need of help. Prism at Rowan and IFC gave out $900 worth of prizes. Philly Pretzel Factory provided penis shaped pretzels and the bulk of prizes came from donations, including $4,000 worth of lubricants, condoms and sex toys from Fantasy Gifts store. Every attendee received a ‘goodie bag’ that included condoms, lubricant samples and information on topics like reproductive health services and the importance of sexual consent. Pipedream Products made a surprise appearance and dropped off even more prizes for the students attending the event.
We could have not helped make this event a huge success without the help of some truly wonderful people and companies. We would like to give a special shout out and thanks to everyone who donated prizes and goodie bag loot to help raise money and awareness for LGBQT peers and our community.

The event has welcomed more participants each of the four times it has been held. Prism plans to continue to host one Sex Toy Bingo per semester, with the next one scheduled for the fall semester. We hope to be invited again.
